Enrichment

Enrichment Programs

In addition to the regular classroom curriculum N.S.F.C. provides the following enrichment activities during the year for the designated classrooms. Enrichment activities are all included in the tuition.

Computers

The children in the Preschool Programs participate in a computer class with the Computer Specialists. Children are introduced to computer programs that teach different developmentally appropriate concepts, such as colors, numbers, shapes, etc., through fun and interactive games. The children learn how to use the basic parts of the computer and vocabulary.

Science

All groups engage in science experiences with the Science Specialist. The Preschool scientists learn how to ask questions using inquiry while exploring the environment and the world around them. The Toddler scientists learn how to use their senses to explore objects and living things in their world.

Art

all groups will participate in an art class with the art specialist. the children will be learning about famous artists throughout history and the style and medium they used. the children will recreate the works of various artists using a variety of different materials.

Music

The Music Specialist exposes all children to different instruments and new songs, lyrics and vocabulary. Children learn about rhythm and beat as they move their bodies and dance to the music.

Movement

The Movement Specialists engages children in movement experiences using objects such as scarves, hoops etc. Children move to music learning to stretch their bodies and develop flexibility.

Spanish

Preschoolers are exposed to the Spanish language through games and songs. Through these experiences the children learn basic vocabulary, such as, colors, numbers and greetings in Spanish.

Gymnastics

During the winter months, the preschoolers participate in gymnastics with Professional Instructors. Children experience the balance beam, parallel bars, rings, vault and tumbling mats. These experiences help children to strengthen their large muscles and develop agility and confidence in the movement of their bodies.

Storytelling

Once a month children enjoy an animated half hour story time with puppets and other pros with the town’s librarian.

Spanish

Preschoolers are exposed to the Spanish language through games and songs. Through these experiences the children learn basic vocabulary, such as, colors, numbers and greetings in Spanish.

Special Visits

Periodically special visitors visit N.S.F.C. to share their experiences with the children. Special visitors include: community workers such as firefighters, police officers, EMTs, dentists and animal specialists who bring in their animals to educate the children about their habitat and way of life.
